Suzaka City Zoo
Although it is a small zoo, there are about 50 species and 230 animals to see. At the top of the list are Hana the capybara and the Bengal tigers Gao and Mio.

Garyu Park
Around the pond, you can appreciate nearly 600 cherry trees, mainly Yoshino cherry trees. The spot has been selected as one of the top 100 cherry blossom locations.
You will also find irises, wisteria, rhododendrons, hydrangeas, and Mt. Garyu’s beautiful pine trees that look like sleeping dragons. These pine trees were selected as some of Japan’s top 100 pine trees.

Tanaka Honke Museum
The Tanaka Honke, a merchant household that has done business in the Suzaka Domain since the mid-Edo Period. Their wealth is said to have contributed to the growth of the domain as well.
The property is over 9,000 square meters, and in addition to the 20 storehouses and pond in the stroll garden, you can also enjoy exploring the reception hall and main rooms throughout the four seasons.

Obuse
Long known for its chestnuts and as the place where Hokusai Katsushika stayed and left works behind, the focus is the newly restyled city landscape.
Stroll through the hand-built Open Garden and take a break in the cafe once you are tired out.

Yonako Falls
In contrast to the roar and impressive plunge of the powerful waterfall, the shape of the misty falls is that of a soft silk cloth opening like a fan. It is also called the “couple’s waterfall” as a result of this shape.

Gomi Pond and Hafu Highlands Nature Park
With what some say to be one million Japanese azalea here, when the flowers are overflowing in June, the entire area is dyed red as if it is on fire.
There is also a view of Northern Nagano’s five main peaks and the Northern alps from these highlands.

Matsukawa Gorge
Lively with tourists throughout the changing seasons, the area is particularly busy with people coming to see the fall foliage.
With a distinct sharp V shape and a particularly large number of maple trees, the velvety pale green of spring changes to a vivid red in the fall, making for prime fall foliage viewing.

Sugadaira Highlands
Spreading out at the foot of Mt. Neko and Mt. Azumaya at an altitude of 1,300 meters.
Admire the highland plant life like Japanese azalea and fringed galax.
With cool weather even in the summer, the place is training camp heaven. It is also known for its ski resort where you can enjoy excellent powder snow.
